Rumba Breakfast Bowl

This is one of my signature go-to breakfast recipes, I’m eating it every day right now! I love the way it is full of slow-release carbohydrates, fibre, protein and pro-biotics. It is such a great way to start the day and give your body what it needs to keep going until lunch.


2 Spoons of Porridge Oats or Buckwheat Flakes

1 Spoonful of Chia Seeds

1 Spoonful of ground Flax Seeds

1 Spoonful of Desiccated Coconut

½ Cup of Almond Milk

½ Cup of Kefir (dairy or coconut)

Chopped banana, berries and/or pumpkin and sunflower seeds to sprinkle on top


Combine all dried ingredients in a cereal bowl, add the almond milk and Kefir then stir thoroughly, leave for about 15 mins to soak. This is a perfect time to do a short gentle morning yoga routine, or jump in the shower if you’re short on time. You can add more/less liquid if a runnier/thicker texture is preferred.

Tips: give it a stir a couple of times while soaking to prevent it from getting too sticky at the bottom. If you’re short on time in the morning, you can prepare this the night before and leave it in the fridge.

When desired texture is achieved, top with chopped banana/berries/seeds

Enjoy with a cup of herbal tea for a healthy start to your day!
